Massage Modalities

Here is a listing of the massage modalities for which I have advanced training and that I may incorporate during your session.  A notebook is available at my location that displays all of my advanced training certificates as well as my original massage and esthetics school diplomas.

Swedish...the basic western style massage which most people are familiar. It includes many different types of strokes that when combined produce a total body massage. It is rhythmic, flowing, comforting, and beneficial in many ways.

LaStone Hot Stone for Body and Face... heated basalt stones are applied to the body in various ways. The heat penetrates deep into the tissues to gently relax tired and overworked muscles. Hot stones are unmatched in how they feel on the body and the results they provide.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)...an efficient method of improving lymphatic flow. I have been instructed in two techniques: Vodder and Chikley. The basics are the same but the methods are different so as a recipient you have the advantage of both systems being integrated. The very gentle techniques activate fluid circulation, increase lymphatic production and flow, and stimulate the immune system. Benefits from this modality include but are not limited to:reduction in edema from injury, relief from chronic inflammation, detoxification, and improved immune function. Facial lymphatic drainage may be anti-aging, regenerating, and relaxing to tense facial muscles. It is also beneficial after dental work, with seasonal allergies, or after plastic surgery. I offer full body lymphatic sessions or I may incorporate segments into your regular session. I am certified to work with lymphedema. One benefit that I enjoy immensely from this work is that it allows the body to shift from the fight/flight sympathetic nervous system to the relaxing parasympathetic nervous system. It is profoundly relaxing. Please request my information sheet to learn more.

Craniosacral Massage Therapy...as taught by John Upledger,D.O. I have completed level 1 and 2 with the Upledger School. In addition, I have self-taught from the work of third-generation osteopathic physician Hugh Milne. This work is extremely gentle with the pressure exerted on the tissues to be the pressure of a dime resting on your skin. It is the gentlest of the approaches to the body that I offer and it can be profoundly healing. This work is based on the understanding that there is a mind-body-spirit unity and when one aspect is balanced then it effects the balancing on the whole. Please request my information sheet to learn more.

MEDICUPPING and CUPPING THERAPIES

I have two ways of offering cupping.  One is with manual cups and the other is with a VacuTherapy machine.  Both provide a gentle approach to many common conditions and quickly produce results that are often remarkable.

I have had advanced continuing education from two organizations that offer cupping education here in the United States as well as around the world. My instructors have included: Mark Perido with the International Cupping Therapy Association; Shannon Gilmartin with ACE Massage Cupping and MediCupping; and Michelle Burns with Cross Country Educators.  I took my initial training in 2010 and have been using the cups since this time.

Please refer to my web page on cupping for more information.
